TSA - Joburg State Of Mind (JSOM) Remix

Nearly 6months ago I came across the very talented and authentic rapper/lyricist, The Silent Assassin -TSA- and around about that time he had just released his first music video "Joburg State of Mind".

6 months down the line, he's released his second viral video JSOM Remix where he's featured another artist "Stilo Magolide".

In this video, shot in the streets of Braam and Joburg Central, the artists speak about the life of a hustler: trying to make it, the 'survival games' and emphasize what it is to be real.

I love it; Lets get it more views on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOv46XBJAEs&feature=youtu.be

A day in 2014 never to be forgotten p4 #FINALE

Conclusion:

Vele Vele to some it ALL UP, Thube EVENTUALLY arrived, we got rained on but Tenji MANAGED to situate things and well of course us being her "wingmen" held candles and did what other single ladies do, wish and crave!!

The taxi ride home was also an epic experience: We learned that taxi drivers can actually be really nice and funny :) Lol

That ultimately become the cherry on top for our day.

Moral of this story:

We got tested that afternoon on whether or not we're true good friends and how far our friendship stretched. WE SACRIFICED our afternoon for our girl where we could have been easily studying doing assignments and stuff that every Matric Student should be busy with.. which is basically just procrastinating and putting sooo many things off.

Friends stick together through high days, and dry days.. sad days, exciting days, LEVEL 20 THIRST days.. EVERY-DAYS, whatever the one goes through, we experience it together. And if you, having read this, can't recall that ONE time you did something for a friend without wanting anything in return, then you might just want to reevaluate your friendship because there's nothing more priceless than contributing to a friend's happiness.

Cliche right!? Its TRUEEE

A day in 2014 never to be forgotten p3

Continued:

The Sun is out, the birds are singing and we're in the middle of this busy day trying to get to Wits to watch what is left of the game and to chill, you know :)

Chanty and Tenji decide to pull a "Google Maps" situation, assuming which road and turn to make. We cross over into Empire Road and walk straight up past some business school with tenis courts and what looks like a hockey field. We're hearing some cheers, music and beat dropping. Tulya is getting excited: finally something goes right in her life, she thought! :D .. Only to find out that it isnt WITS and that we've left it RIGHT behind us.

Im sure your thinking, how can we be Joburgers, yet alone people that live AROUND the area and still not know where Wits is. Well thing is we were actually looking for the Education Campus because that's where the match was supposedly happening. Man I'm feeling myself sober up from irritation.. Mind you that time 3 of us are buzzed and have NO IDEA where we going.. Toolz(Tulya) was as good as being useless as we all were.

Cool we get to A WITS campus, make our way up this loooong drive way, passed security and hai no we realize that we're in the wrong campus. Tenji contacts Thube like "yo wassup, where are you? coz we're are here".

Hai no we realise vele vele that we're in the wrong campus and Chanty starts talking about wanting to walk back to Bree!? WHAAT is she mad!? Talking about how she needs to get home and stuff, Tulya rates we ask for a lift from this student that was making her way to Res.

She was so nice, pity we didnt get her name!

Anyways she dropped us off by the Bus Station within Wits and told us that no fee was required.
Now we waiting.. and Waiting... AND WAITING.. when finally Thube replies and tells us we're int he wrong campus(of which we're very aware of!) and that he'll TRY come to us coz the game is nearly over.

Ahhhh.. So we chilling with Tenji trying to convince us to stay.. shame man! We were her Wingmen what else could we have done? :)

The first bus arrives and its headed to Cresta.. we're contemplating whether to take it or not; and we dont. Moments later another bus arrives headed to Rosebank, we're already in line and have decided that "You know what!? Fvck this niggah, we're outtah here" kind of mentality.

As we're in line, Tulya starts freaking out about what if we get arrested for taking the bus because we are not students at Wits. So that actually sunk in a for a while, and I also suggested that we dont take the bus 'cause it looked like we need student cards to swipe.

The bus leaves, we're STILL at the station standing in confusion trying to think about our next step from here. We conclude that we leave and en route to Bree to catch cab's going home.

Barely half way down the driveway, Tenji gets a text message saying she should stay and that "Im coming to fetch you, Im on the next bus there(campus)"

Ahhhh... We cross over with our heads bowed down, not wanting to be recognized by anyone, and make our way to the bus station.

Hau, this woman comes out of nowhere nje and starts telling us that they are recruiting some youths to come sit in interviews and to speak about the show. She has NO ID of some sort to prove to us she actually works at the SABC, I dont even know what she said her job titled was from the way she was just mumbling her words so fast you'd swear she didnt want us to hear. Bare you that this woman woman who's in her early 30's is in dark pink chucks, a red sporty casual dress and a green doek.

So I ask her would we be on TV she say no so then I assume its some type of market research which would obviously mean a PAYING JOB for our time therefore I asked would we be getting paid. I wouldve said yes right on the spot if the answer had been yes KANTI its a no paying job thing.

"Noo sorry we're not interested in that" I tell her. She says "Ok, thank you" and walks away with a rather disappointed look. Alright cool, so we've finally accepted that Mapule isnt coming, Mell is missioning her own things with her guy and so it's just the four of us. Tenji is UBER excited kind of anxious to see the dude, so alright we sommer vy since the Match ws scheduled for 1pm. It's about past 1pm and well Wits is only 10minutes away from Bree.

As we try find our way to the Mandela Bridge, I realise that we're going in the wrong direction. Myself, Tulya (who isn't baked at this moment) and Chanty are following behind Tenji who thinks she knows the way only to find ourselves walking in the total opposite direction, heading towards NSA School.

Everything just seems hilarious at this point, we ask for directions and off we are to bree. We get a Parkhurst taxi via Parktown to Wits  and 15minutes of it leaving Bree Rank we realise that we've long passed our destination get off point. We're probably like 4blocks away from Wits so we obviously had to walk back. Thats like 5km's of walking.

Boy! was I mad. I could feel the frustration building up inside but I couldnt let it come out, all I had was laughter. So alright, we chill on the sidewalk of the road with cars driving past on the freeway; we're trying to figure out things. Moments after, we en route AGAIN to Wits but this time on our feet.

A day in 2014 never to be forgotten P1

It all began on Friday the 7th of March when my homie Tenji asked us to be her "wingmen" when going to meet up with this guy she had met about two weeks ago in Braamfontein. Thubelihle is his name and well we couldn't have denied her that when we'd be also opening ourselves to the opportunity to scope some Wits hunks just for control matters. Thube (shortened name) would actually be playing a Hockey Match at one of the Wits Campuses so not only would we be indulging in some of the eye candy there but as well enjoying a good game of Hockey.

So Saturday morning arrived and off we went to our Saturday lessons where after that we'd en route to Wits. Now one of our very not so punctual but GOOD friend of ours, very good friend, Mapule or Maps for short was to tag along all the way from the South. We had planned it to be the six of us: Tenji, Maps, Tulya, Chanty, Mell and myself.

After school came and off we took to the busy streets of Braam. The plan was to meet up with Maps there then all go to Wits together. Melleny decided to drop us and see her boyfriend because some of us are JUST single (Just #PuttingItOutThere) so that really got us disappointed but it was alright. We get to Braam and you know the typical scenery: 17-25yearolds, guy's wearing 23's, girls with the tumblr shorts, backpacks everywhere and well the smell of some us good green at every corner.

We arrive at the fully packed Neighbourgoods Market midday. Starving and thirsty as hell we decide to have a look see around the place for anything on sale, emphasis on the word sale .. Haii no with the budget we had we decided Kitcheners was sommer the place to be. Mellow vibes, good music, couple people sparking a doobie or two = our type of scenery. We get a few shot's of Po10c, inhaled some herb and got pretty doped whilst waiting for Maps to arrive.

Our day only began from here:
Tuyla decides to lose her money somewhere and of course we all start freaking out. She has to be one of the most careful and attentive people I know so her losing a R200 note kind of got me ticked, considering the fact that we were all on a budget :-/ . THEN, after not finding her money, we get approached by this woman just across Neighbourgoods, telling us she works for SHIFT the Talk Show on SABC 1...

Shocking Ugandan Policy on Gay Law & Child Rape

Rev. Simon Lokodo further added that “these Western people – Obama, Kerry – they are married to women, yet they want to tell us our men should marry men. If that is so important, why does Obama not marry a man"
Gay Man burned to death in Uganda.
It came to my knowledge and Im assuming almost everyone else's, when Uganda recently imposed an Anti-Gay Law, called "Kill the Gays Bill" which states that homosexual marriage and sex is prohibited in the country. The bill was signed into law by the President of Uganda on 24 February 2014.

I was shocked and mostly disturbed by the response to this bill when some people in South Africa took to Twitter & Facebook to comment about this bill. Many homophobes were celebrating the fact that Ugandan Men & Women are being severely punished for their sexualities.

Does this not spark any thought for question? Does this not contradict religion, namely Christianity? Does this not go against principles of humanity?

Well clearly not because on Monday 3rd of March a Ugandan Reverend and State Minister , Simon Lokodo, launched a "festival" - The Inaugural Child Rape Festival - which is based on the rape of innocent females which will also see girls as young and helpless as two months old being raped.
(PIC) Ugandan State Minister for Ethic & Integrity Reverend Simon Lokodo
Rev. Simon Lokodo

This decision has been welcomed by the Parliament as it supposedly upholds Ugandan Christian principles: being opposed to two consenting adults engaging in homosexual sex.

Now in the bible chapter Leviticus such an act is condoned: Leviticus 20:13 “If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense."
My question(s) is: can we truly blame Uganda and the rest of society that is, for being homophobes and to be able to display such inhumane levels of hatred on other people? I mean if the bible justifies it then surely they, being Christians and probably OTHER religious groups, promote this as them "living accordingly" to the bible. Can, at this point, religion not be put to blame for even a REVEREND to justify the creation of such an event on purely it being the "natural way"? To pass it on as "Tradition" in raping women in Uganda? to possibly be able to publicly say "raping women is a natural way of ridding the demons out of the girls to ensure non of them will become lesbians" ?

How far will WE as a people continue backing our sadistic and barbaric ways on religion and tradition when what they only do is to tear a nation apart and strips naked the dignity of being a woman, and a MAN for that matter, at a young age?

Honestly, I think religion has been brainwashing humanity because it has been going on for so long. its evidence of all the million other people that spit disgust upon a homosexual and praise unto the murderers of "God's Children" .

The UN needs to intervene as in YESTERDAY, and rid Uganda of all this stupidity.

What does it mean to be an African in the 21st century?

This question was introduced into today's episode of Chat Room on SABC1 and it caught my attention. I don't usually watch the show but today it raised a topic of interest and concern to what it really means to be an African, more precisely a woman, in the 21st century.

Firstly let's have a look at the definition of an 'African' before tackling this 'issue' .
Now in the Miriam Webster dictionary it is clearly defined as "A person from Africa, especially a black person" AND " relating to Africa or people of African descent.

Which brings us to the question: what is African descent or ancestry?

I personally perceive it as following or having respect for African traditions and cultures, whether or not you are of black ethnicity, and have influence in your life.

The modern day woman is more than often looked down and frowned upon because of the way she speaks, dresses and where she lives and what she eats. Weaves more especially, have been controversial talks amongst members of society on whether they define your "realness" in being an African or not.

I don't understand what appearance has to do with your roots and cultural background. You may look like the next Beyonce: silky hair, mini skirts, twang or even real foreign accent, dress classy and even eat classy at that or even be a Lebo Mashile look a-like with your big natural afro, beaded necklaces and African print attires but if you're born into a certain belief system - Africanism - or choose to become a part of it in some point in your life, and you're forefathers practiced ways of the African Man, spoke to the ancestors and slaughtered the cow for ceremonies then I don't see reason as to why that rich tradition and culture needs to be thrown away.

THAT makes an African.

Africanism should actually become a religion, where one of whatever race can practice and learn the ways of an African, whether it is the Mbundu culture in Angola or Sesotho of the Lesotho Land, what you eat or wear does not define you're Africanism but rather your CULTURAL PRACTICES.
