Glory Mbombo
Gloria is a 17 year old photographer from Johannesburg North and has to be one of my favourite freelancers that I know of. I'd say her artwork is professional, edgy and very stimulating and for a self-taught young adult I believe she has a successful profession awaiting her.

Solange's Superior Wedding

Solange Knowle's wedding took place yesterday in new Orleans where she married her long time boyfriend Alan Ferguson. The reason why I've called it Superior is because, personally, I think she has to have had one of the best celebrity weddings I've seen in a long time, outdoing both her sister's as well as Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's that took place earlier this year in France.

The couple had a very fashionable and relatively small wedding(200 guests, that's small for a celebrity) that seemed very funny too! Fun, because unlike the traditional "Just Married Car" newly weds have after the wedding ceremony, the Ferguson's rode off on BICYCLES. How Eco-friendly is that?! Lol
Too dope man!

The female musician wore a cream white Jumpsuit for the wedding ceremony and later changed into a goddess of a dress where she and her family took a wedding video and pictures to capture the beautiful moment.

I won't even mention her VEIL *In Awe* .. Well technically, it was a cape draped over the dress and I'm guessing it was a substitute for a traditional veil. She had her afro all blown out and her red matte lips ultimately did it for me!! I think I may have an idea of how I want MY wedding to be like now! :D

Sidenote: Apparently the bridesmaids were able to chose their OWN dresses/outfits so long as they were white.

Anyways, Congratulations to the couple ☺

MEN: Summer Trends 2014

THE MAN BUN - I find this look EXTREMELY SEXY I'll have you know.

Goodbye German Cut (famously known as the "Kendrick Lamar" here in S.A) and Hello Man Bun. The Modern man, metrosexual or not, is currently rocking this hairdo and it has many fashion forward people turning their heads. I'm not on par with what is in and what is not in regards to men's fashion, actually fashion as a whole, but when I saw Mongezi Mcelu (image below) rocking this style, as a black man at that, I was quite taken.

This style is funky, very Eastern in  relation to the Samurai "culture" and extremely male-chic. They give off an artsy appeal to a man and no, I'm not saying it's what EVERY guy should wear but for those that are fashion-forward and adventurous it indeed is a must-have.

LADIES: Summer Trend 2014/2015 - Accesories

I've just recently discovered that the latest accessory trend for females this summer, which of course  has been worn by fashion leaders such as the Queens themselves Beyonce and Bonang, are flash tattoos.

You ask what Flash Tattoos are? Well they're basically innovative jewelry-inspired temporary tattoos for serious (and not so serious) fashionistas. They last for about 4-6 days depending on how well maintained they are and serve as a replacement for actual jewellery.

So remember last summers trend of wearing excessive bangles around the wrists and chunky neck pieces? Well apparently that's not cool anymore, for those that closely followed the trend. I don't know of any retail stores currently selling these tatts but I know SPREE has them available for about R90-R180 a set.

They are quite saxx for beach/yacht fun but I don't think they're to be rocked on a day-to-day basis. Anyways December must come, because ladies here's some nice treats for yourselves.

TSA Nobody Else ft $tilo Magolide

The Silent Assassin is no stranger to Throne Of Thoughts and once again this is a feature about his latest track which was released a few hours ago. "Tsek Outta Here" is the artist's recent project featuring Boyz N Bucks'  very own Stilo Magolide and I believe it's going to get a vast following really quickly.

left: $tilo Magolide right: TSA Nobody Else
The song, TO ME, sounds like a a denouncement of Jozi Maboneng's charlatans who believe "fitting in" consists of being a sham and or being a hater. I don't know, but lend it an ear and you decide what you think but from me it's certainly a thumbs up!

REPOST: Men Spoke/Tumblr

Check out my friend Khaya Sithole's article on Men's Clothing. His blog Men-Spoke will definitely be a success.
Tumblr: MEN SPOKE

" The term bespoke was initially reserved for the tailoring industry. Today, you see the word used for everything from washing powder brands to jewellery brands.

I get very pleased when young men take their over-sized clothes to a tailor. Nowadays, baggy clothes are no longer relevant. It would not be seen as attractive!

A bespoke suit is a garment that is made for you, or spoken for’ (the British tailoring definition) and there is more hand construction in the making than a machine. A typical bespoke suit coat by Oxxford Clothes, for example, has more than 1000 hand stitches in the lapel and results in a perfectly hand-rolled lapel that stays in place. It hugs your body so well and never needs to be pressed.

The garments chosen are more expensive, as the craftsmanship requires a high level of skill and attention to detail. The fabric plays an important part in the investment.
Does custom and bespoke mean the same thing? They might have common meaning but there is a difference between the two words; a bespoke requires you to have personal contact with your tailor/clothier, you will have to come to his workroom more than three times for fittings, the jackets should have a full canvas, hand-made; hand-padded lapels and, at the finishing stages, hand made buttonholes.

A custom-made suit will require your tailor to take numerous measurement, maybe 20 or 30 measurements all in a day.

A ‘full bespoke’ suit should be cut and fitted by the same person, and made by hand either in his workroom or a location situated nearby. Each suit is a once-off create and mass production methods do not have any place in the world of Bespoke.

Bespoke hugs

Khaya Sithole."

Photography by Unam Ntantala

Unam Ntantala
Below are a variety pictures taken by the incredible Unam Ntantala. I really love the fact that within his photography he has also chosen to explore his own culture, the Xhosa culture, and to showcase the beauty that is of it.
On his blog he describes himself as "A South African Photographer trying to break the boundary between the main stream fashion scene and the street fashion scene" and I believe he is succeeding in doing so.

The Waiting Game On Sunday

24hours
I sit here and wait.
I sit here and stay waiting,
and truly that's what life's about -
just constant waiting
and for what?

  Cause the reality is that
  we wont be getting married,
  we wont be together forever.
  We acting dramatic over a
  temporary forever which will
  probably bring heartache,
  separation
  and more lonely
depressing nights filled with my haunting silence
  and despair
  while I sit and wonder
  who's your next hit?

Public Display of Affection

http://s1.hubimg.com/u/4260052_f260.jpg
What is and what isn't appropriate? Do you find yourself feeling uncomfortable from the publicly displayed affection of others or do you find yourself as the 'perpetrator' at hand who throws PDA at everyone's face?

Being in an affectionate relationship is, for some loyal people, a two way thing that can make couples feel all sorts of nice and sweet things and may also leave them wanting to display all these nice and sweet things, at ALL TIMES. It's Sickening right!?

Pleasure-seeking

What brings you pleasure or rather what should bring you pleasure?

Many vibrant youths of mostly urbanized areas like Jo'burg City have what I call the disillusioned desire for pleasure. They call it hedonism but I refer to it as ignorance.

http://cdn.images.express.co.uk/img/dynamic/27/285x214/135577_1.jpg
Sure, happiness and euphoria, that mostly comes from the drugs and alcohol, and money are everything everyone so passionately seek but what about the bigger things in life? What about the economic freedom and mental liberation? What about the glory of success that comes with education? What about emancipation, the sweet sweet emancipation that Marley spoke about decades ago?

Remember the days?

Remember the days
when life was an exiting anecdote
and not a feared reality;
the days when people were just people
and not demons in life forms;
the days when love was natural and
a beautiful element not a strategic game or
a sold misconception.

Remember the days
when people weren't just in love with love,
but actually in love with each other;

R.I.P Epainette Mbeki

Nomaka Epainette Mbeki or mononymously known as MaMbeki passed away on the 7th of June 2014 and yesterday(14 June 2014) was finally laid to rest in iDutywa where she spent almost her whole life selflessly giving and helping her community.

MaMbeki died at the age of 98 after living a rather fulfilling life.

Bob Mabena

No, this is not an article on the legendary radio icon Bob Mabena but instead a homage to the man in musical form performed by rap artists J.R. featuring Okmalumekoolkat and Spoek Mathambo. The song was released towards the end of the month of May and even though I haven't heard it on radio as of yet, it is another jam set to hit the music charts by a banger.

It seems as though artists have turned to naming their songs after local legends such as Doc Shebeleza by Cassper Nyovest which turned out to live up to its name as it has everybody bumping to it. I don't know about you but 'Bob Mabena' ke tuune and a MUST download!!

The mentality around weight loss/gain

South African rapper KO HIV test results
K.O. 's test results
A few weeks ago Mr Cashtime - K.O. - took to twitter when he posted a picture of his HIV test results after been suspected of having the disease. He then after went on popular media shows such as 'Real Goboza' and 'The Free Way' on YFM to address and kill all speculations, which I have to commend him for.

For a while though, many people have fallen victim to society's stereotypical behavior of claiming people are HIV positive if they lose weight drastically. I fail to see how firstly someone else's status is anyone's concern if you're not a part of their lives and secondly above it all, how losing weight would automatically mean your infected.

Too many people are bothered by other people's statuses instead of paying attention to their own. But it's also a problem if by simply pointing out how someone's weight has changed comes across as a personal attack and assuming that their sick.

I was shocked to realize that a tweet I posted on Twitter about Mika Stefano losing weight and looking really thin compared to his previous look, would paint me as another stereotyped member of society. If anything I did not even assume it would be related to health issues until the man himself replied to me explaining the cause of his weight loss, and tagging Mr Cashtime himself.

*smh* We all put ourselves out there for public scrutiny but I strongly believe that the lowest form of scrutiny would be labeling some one as HIV infected. To me personally, it all comes across as though people with weight ''issues" will constantly find something to fall back on like assuming that the public labels them as HIV Positive.

New Age Kwaito

http://yomzansi.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/EXCLUSIVE-INTERVIEW-with-Major-League-Bandile-and-Banele-390x225.jpg
Major League DJz
Described as New Age Kwaito, Major League DJz have released their first single "The Bizness" which features Ricky Rick, Cassper Nyovest and Siya Shezi.

I was never really a huge Kwaito fan growing up. I mean Arthur and Malaika were the only artists I recall listening to, but if this is what Kwaito is going to become then mark me down as a fan.

Major League will undoubtedly become the NEXT BIG THING to hit South African; 20years of democracy and this genre (N.A.K) represents authentic South African music.

Download this song below and recollect your greatest memories of Kwaito music.
